Why 'changes' to grave of late Ghana President Atta Mills dey cause fight 10 years after he die


 

The final resting place of the late John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills has caused new controversy in Ghana.

Family of the late Ghanaian leader Bore say Coastal Development Authority and another NGO, Atta Mills Institute they make changes to earn final and grave without notice to the family.

The family express their disappointment to the media, they say this is  against their custom.

This recent changes to the grave of the late president according to Koku Anyidoho, who is the leader of Atta Mills Institute is part part of the preparations for 10th anniversary memorial of the death.

But the family of the late President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills Eex. 

Its not allowed to allow the NGO to make changes to grave without consulting the family" brother of the late President Samuel Atta Mills talk.

“Why you did you go and  touch the body without informing the family head? Under whose authority?” he ask. 

“Why do you always want to go through grief, do they want us to always go through grief? this be former president, why did the government  allow this to happen.

According to the family of the late president, “thisis an insult to the family and the nation.”


 

According to the founder of Atta Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, we are making changes to de grave from wood covering to granite stone. 

After de family raise objection to the recent development, he argue say what i and the NGO's are doing is  to uplift the final resting place of late president John Evans Atta Mills to a befitting level. 

He will explain  on Sunday, July 24, 2022. we go hold event to commemorate ten years of then passing, sake of that we are making some changes.

He however deny claims saying that no one  touched the body of the late president.

“Who touched the body” he talked when Accra based Joy FM put the question of touching the remains of late president Atta Mills to him.

Koku Anyidoho a Ghanaian politician who works as Head of Communications under late President John Evans Atta Mills from 2009 to 2012.

He also serve as deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress from 2014 to 2018.

Koku Anyidoho fall out with the party in recent times over various issues, he is identified more as founder of Attah Mills Institute now.

Then NGO's  behind the recent changes  to the grave of the late former president of Ghana.

Despite the good relationship with the late Mills, Koku Anyidoho is on a very good terms with family of his former boss.

Sake of this, family of Atta Mills never recognize the Atta Mills Institute which Koku Anyidoho create to honor the legacy of the late president of Ghana.

John Evans Atta Mills die in 2012 while he's still  in power as President of Ghana.

He die at age 68 few after he fall sick in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

its not clear what kill him but prior to his death, concerns emerge about how the president  struggled with throat cancer.

He serve as Vice President to military ruler, Jerry John Rawlings from 1997 to 2000 before he become President in 2009.

He defeat current leader, Nana Akufo-Addo in the December 2008 general elections with peace as the campaign message.

He lost the 2000 and 2004 elections before finally becoming president of Ghana.

Before becoming president, Atta Mills work as academic. He graduate from University of Ghana in 1967, continue went to London School of Economics School and finally securing his PhD for School of Oriental and African Studies.

His death cause major heartbreak for Ghana as he go down in history as the first sitting president who has died on  Office in in Ghanaian history.
